William Henry Stafford, Jr.

It is with great sadness that the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida announces the passing of the Honorable William Henry Stafford, Jr., United States District Judge.  

Judge Stafford was nominated as a United States District Judge on April 18, 1975, was confirmed by the Senate on May 12, 1975, and received his commission on May 14, 1975.  Following his appointment, Judge Stafford served more than fifty years as a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Florida, including twelve as Chief Judge.  Prior to his service as a United States District Judge, Judge Stafford served as United States Attorney and as an officer in the United States Navy.  

The Judges, staff, and extended court family are grateful for Judge Stafford’s many contributions to our court and will miss him greatly.
